Remercions les bénévoles et amis qui ont œuvré à la réussite de la XIIème fête nautique à Decize, navigateurs et président de la DBA -Barges association, partenaires du Kenneth an Avon Trust et du Royal Canal Amenities Group, membres et présidents des associations, l'Entente, Autour du Canal de Bourgogne, Amis du Canal du nivernais, l'équipe de VNF Decize. La coopération active de tous pour le déroulement de cette manifestation fit de ces trois jours une succession de moments conviviaux dont nous garderons un excellent souvenir.
Les festivités particulièrement réussies de Flotescale à Clamecy, auxquelles nous avons participé, nous ont conforté dans notre démarche de concertation entre organisations, œuvrant dans une même direction, afin de créer des synergies dans la transmission de la mémoire et la protection du patrimoine.
De son côté Gérard Mottet, lors de la conférence qu'il a tenu à Auxerre a su nous passionner en exposant une étude, associant tourisme et trafic d'avenir du canal du Nivernais et de l'Yonne. Le second Défi du Nivernais n'a pas usurpé son nom. Au long de ses 170 Km la vélo route ensoleillée a vu passer, dans les deux sens, une quarantaine d'accros de la bicyclette. Félicitations à ces héros.
Enfin, j'en appelle à vous tous, pour oser les idées qui nous ferons avancer !
I wish to start by thanking our friends and ail the volunteers who worked so hard for the success of our 11th "Fête Nautique" in Decize at the end of July. The Chairman of the DBA-Barges Association and their members who came by boat, our partners from the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust and the Royal Canal Amenities Group, The presidents and members of the following associations The Entente, Around the Canal de Bourgogne, and the Amis du Canal du Nivernais. The team of the VNF and the crew of their boat the "Rhône". The active cooperation of ail for the organization and running of this event made the three days a succession of friendly events from which we will keep many happy memories,.
Another very successful event in which we participated was "Flotescale" in Clamecy. This again reinforced how useful it is for organizations to work together to create a coherent image in the way the history of the region is portrayed and the historical infrastructure of the region can be protected. At the conference in Auxerre in September, Mr Gérard Mottet had us fascinated by his comments on a study which has been carried out showing a link between the Nivernais canal and its importance for bringing tourism into the Yonne/Nièvre regions in the future. The second" Défi du Nivernais" lived up to its name when some 40 plus keen cyclists were seen in glorious sunshine travelling in both directions along the 170 km of cycle way/tow path. Congratulations to ail participants. Finally, I appeal to ail of you to bring forward your innovative ideas which we can develop to advance with in the future!
